Fly Fishing Casting Tuition & Instruction
The primary aim of the tuition is
to increase your practical ability and theoretical knowledge. By seeking to
do this you will then be much more prepared to deal with the many varied
challenges that will be presented to you in your quest during the course of
the season. We feel it is far more important to achieve this than just to
ensure you catch a few fish.
We aim to exceed your expectations.
Beginners (Part or Full day)
This introduction will suit both
beginners, and those recently introduced to the sport. It will give you
a solid foundation upon which to progress and the confidence and ability
to apply the basic techniques.
Although the tuition will be designed &
tailored specifically for you, a typical example should include:
- Selecting and setting up a balanced
outfit
(Fly rod, reel & line, knots & furled leaders etc..)
- Roll casting techniques and knowing
when to use them
- How to complete the Overhead cast
correctly
(Including techniques for wind and adverse conditions)
- Fly life and selecting the correct
imitation
- Watercraft, finding fish in any given
location
- Catch and Release (Safely returning
the fish once caught)
- A full itinerary
will be provided for each day, all tackle provided FREE.
Beginners tuition will be conducted on appropriate Stillwater
or Reservoir depending on conditions, locations, and the types of
water you're likely to have access too.
Improvers (Part or Full day)
The Improvers tuition is aimed at the fly fisher who,
through experience, has a firm understanding of the two most
fundamental casts within fly fishing. The overhead and the roll
cast. From there, a more varied range of casts will be taught to
improve accuracy and the overall presentation, along with more
advanced fishing skills
Although the tuition will be designed & tailored
specifically for you, a typical example may include:
- Review of outfit and improving line &
leader set up
- Single & Double hauling to improve
distance
- Single & Double Spey cast
- Jump roll, Snake roll and Snap T casts
- River casting techniques
(Confined/Obstructed locations) The above advanced casts can be
taught at almost any location. A number of these casting techniques
however are best suited to certain conditions and specific locations
(These will be discussed and covered during the tuition)
- A full itinerary will
be provided for each day, all tackle provided FREE.
Improvers tuition will be conducted on River,
Stillwater or Reservoir depending on conditions, locations, and the
